Junior Year at Johns Hopkins

My Work

About Me

My name is Joey Kern. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. I chose this field because I feel it gives me the best chance to create the ideas I come up with regularly. I’m currently taking part-time classes at the Carlson School of Management to obtain my master’s degree in Applied Business Analytics while playing basketball for the University of Minnesota.

Many people come up with new apps or innovative technological ideas. I felt that being well versed in both software and hardware would give me a strong chance to act on some of the wild ideas that pop into my brain. Check out a project from my freshman year in the “My Work” section titled The SoundCube!

I spent the summer of 2020 interning for DraftKings Inc. and was amazed by how personal everyone was and how hard they work. I was offered a full-time job here as a Business Data Analyst beginning in the fall of 2021 and initially accepted the offer. After I accepted the job I was given the opportunity to continue my basketball career while working towards my master’s. Playing Division I basketball has long been a dream of mine and I’m excited to say I will be playing at The University of Minnesota during the 2021-22 season!

At the conclusion of the 2022 academic year, my hope is to find work at a company as prominent and cutting edge as DraftKings!
